Dear Stress, Let’s Break up

Human development is an enduring process of physical, physiological emotional and cognitive growth. An enormous change is witnessed since a baby till one reaches adulthood. Throughout the human development life-cycle each person undergoes a tremendous change in their attitudes and values that thereafter guide their choices, relationships, and understanding. Each stage of human development life-cycle withstands different transformations. However, each individual will experience these stages of development at their destined time. With the newly designed system a lot of pressure and stress comes in hand for each and every individual. Stress is not just experienced by adults but also by students. Various studies across the globe emphasize that students pursuing professional courses in the field of science like Engineering are compelled to higher stress. The stress students are facing presently relates to good grades, new college life, new friends, academic pressure as well as poor mental, physical and emotional health. When such pressure seeps into a peer’s life depression strikes them as a swelling wave and it deprives their happiness.

In order to drive away stress from an engineering student’s life it’s important to implement at least one creative hobby in the schedule followed. Creative hobbies have the power to improve one’s mental stature. These hobbies enable one to set aside some time and indulge in creative fun activities. Engineering students can include their hobbies in their daily routine, which will help them manage their stress levels. Stress occurs when tension level exceeds energy level overburdening one’s brain. As long as available energy exceeds the tension level, then one can be considered healthy, but if it is vice versa it will result in serious anxiety, depression, and an overwhelmed feeling. To attenuate stress level, students can develop their intellectual traits. In order to develop intellectual traits students need to indulge themselves in various hobbies such as reading books, playing some sport, music, drawing, youtubers, writing and can also be a blogger. One can come up with any hobby that one likes. Students these days are too busy with their academics and hence forget that brain acts like a muscle, and even it needs a break at regular intervals of time. College life can be hectic as well as fun. Students can ease one’s hectic schedule by hanging out with friends, joining clubs, exploring off campus, joining a fraternity or sorority, and also can be a part of student’s newspaper.
Following are some stress busters that will ease one’s life
  1.    Playing musical instrument: If one is interested in playing musical instrument   then one can adopt it as their hobby.  Playing an instrument daily will enhance       one’s creativity, analytical skills, learning capabilities etc.
  2.   Learning new languages:  Researches have shown that people who are      bilingual are better in solving puzzles. Learning new languages successfully will  enable brain to perform any mentally demanding task better. Engineering    students can learn various foreign languages if they are interested, because these   languages can be helpful for their career plans.
  3.   Cultivating the habit of Reading: It is the best way to develop intellectual      traits. Reading is one activity that engages oneself in thought and leaves thinking   about the proceedings of the novel which one can end up comparing with one’s    life. Talking to people about things that matter and have not been addressed can  also develop one intellectually.
  4.   Writing: If one loves writing then one can spend one’s time in writing an article or poem and can publish it in College Magazine.
  5.    Drawing: Drawing is a perfect way to make things look alive. If one loves drawing then one can go ahead with it.
  6.   Meditation: Meditation is very helpful. Because of that one can take right decisions even in stressful situations.
  7.  Web designing: Many engineering students have a hobby of web designing. If one is a computer geek, then one can exhibit that hobby to an extreme level.
  8.  Group discussion:  To be an active member in group discussion is very significant in whole period of engineering college life. Because discussion involves sharing of enormous knowledge by different people in different ways. GD is very essential, because many queries get cleared and one can even learn and explore things unknown.

If one implements the above strategies as part of their daily routine, then one can be successful in managing or controlling stress. This would boost one’s work as well as help scratch one’s gaming itch. Students can implement one’s co-curricular activities as one’s hobby if one has developed a lot of interest or is passionate about it. For example automobile designing or robotics is one of the subjects of mechanical and automobile engineering, and it would require an intricate knowledge of the subject to make an effective and functional robot or vehicle. Thereby, the knowledge gained in this process helps mechanical student score academically as well as excel in co-curricular activities.

College life gives one an opportunity to develop one’s hobbies and at the same time focus on one’s studies.  Keeping a positive attitude before, one can begin with one’s assorted hobbies laid in front of them.  Students can indulge in various co-curricular activities to train one’s brain intelligently.  To summarize, happiness and contentment matters the most to lead an ideal life. There are numerous students willing to go for “Higher Education”, but, how many of them actually bring their dream in reality. There are multiple students who started dreaming from childhood itself regarding obtaining higher studies from Abroad, IIT’s, or IIM. Lakhs of students passed out every year from engineering colleges, but not many of them are able to build promising careers. Indeed, what assures them a promising career? How a student should prepare oneself during their engineering for higher studies and work to get a good career opening in this competitive world? Higher studies will generally help you to develop important transferable life skills – such as public speaking, research skills, presentation and report writing. It is therefore important that you choose your field carefully, and select a course that benefits you and is relevant to your career path.

After completion of engineering there are various ways of obtaining master’s degree like ME/M.tech, MBA, and M.S. and afterward if one is still enthusiastic can go for PhD. But to urge these Master’s degree student’s need to appear  for various exams e.g. For M.Tech/ME- GATE, for M.S-GRE, for Master in Business – CAT/MAT/GMAT, and different exams  like TOFEL,IELTS, civil services exams like CSAT, and IES. So, to face these competitive exams students desire support not solely from folks however conjointly from college. Therefore engineering colleges ought to have some committee to promote awareness of higher studies among students. The ideal role of Higher Education committee at college level is to promote students for higher studies and to make sure maximum enrollment of students. They can inspire students by arranging some expert seminar’s and group discussions.
 Competitive Exams
